FRACTO

Festival | Experimental Film Encounter

FRACTO returns to ACUD Kunsthaus Berlin Mitte from May 22–25, 2025.

This year’s edition presents 33 films from 21 countries across two main strands: a two-night retrospective dedicated to Hungarian artist Dóra Maurer, and five curated programs featuring contemporary international works.

A key figure in Hungary’s neo-avant-garde, Maurer’s cross-media practice spans graphic art, photography, film, and installation. Her experimental works explore movement, perception, and transformation—reflecting decades of radical creativity and collaboration.

Processes of care, erosion, fragmentation, and immediacy run through the five contemporary selections. Each program opens a space where film emerges as gesture, surface, interval—privileging sensuous materiality and the spatial-temporal dislocation of perceptual terrains.

FRACTO is an annual film festival dedicated to contemporary experimental and avant-garde cinema, held in Berlin since 2017.
