So sehr sie ein globales Phänomen darstellen, ihre Auswirkungen werden zunächst auf lokaler Ebene spürbar.
Ihre Mehrung und weltweite Tragweite wird uns deshalb selten bewusst.
Indem Filmemacher*innen die Umstände vor Ort dokumentieren, setzen sie lokal und global in einen Zusammenhang, um den Raum des Handelns zu öffnen.
Plot: Drought, deforestation, animal species on the brink of extinction, dwindling resources, air and water pollution: environmental threats dot the map far and wide and come in all shapes and sizes. As much as they represent a global phenomenon, their effects initially make themselves felt at the local level. For this reason, we are rarely aware of their true spread and global impact. When filmmakers document conditions first-hand, they establish a shared context for the local and global, creating a space for action in the process.
